If you would like to pick up a paper copy of Trail #1 you can buy one from my shop for £2 See here!

I'm considering uploading Trail #2 starting next week, I think there's quite a lot of people who picked up Trail #1 that never found out about Trail #2 because i promoted it really lazily.

I learnt a lot from making this comic and feel i improved my drawing a lot in the second comic. If you like Melvin the spider then you will like the second comic because he's the main character in it! He's defiantly my favorite, you can't help but love the one eyed vegetarian spider.

My planes go far

I've done a new T-shirt design which is up for voting on the All Tropical website. If it wins it will be printed and available to buy on Asos among other places.

You can vote for it here

My Thanks in advance!

This is an idea inspired by some previous work I did for a good friend of mine Roy and his band Brown Paper Aeroplane. A great band that sadly aren't with us anymore.

I did this a couple of years ago as a cover for their debut CD

Tuesday Trail #009

I have another short story from the first Trail comic to share today, I hope you enjoyed my take on the two little Dicky birds rhyme last week.

As ever if you want to catch up on Tuesday Trail you can use this index to go back through them

- Tuesday Trail #001
- Tuesday Trail #002
- Tuesday Trail #003
- Tuesday Trail #004
- Tuesday Trail #005
- Tuesday Trail #006
- Tuesday Trail #007
- Tuesday Trail #008

I'm not sure I like these pages anymore but they were part of the original print so I thought I'd share them anyway. I feel I should have stuck to the standard set of Trail characters looking back on this. These are things that I learnt from and improved on in the second issue but I'll talk more about that later!

I had a phone call the other day from someone telling me they had been watching the news and there was an eleven year old boy on there who had been making his own comics and was doing really well selling them in the hundreds. Now, under normal circumstances I'd think this was amazing and be very supportive. I then found out that apparently his comics are about a snail called Trail, this made me very angry inside!

I don't know if these are true facts and i cant find anything about it myself so if anyone else heard anything let me know.

On a more positive note, I did an interview with All Tropical the other day after winning the t-shirt competition. I'll post it up here when they publish it.

I'm still working hard on the new Graphic Novel so check back later in the week to see the next installment, I think you may be pleasantly surprised!

Tiger Woods vs Charlie Sheen

I did another comic about Charlie Sheen, to be fair I could probably do a whole series on him at the moment if he carries on this way.

It's a little bit gory at the end but I'm sure Tiger wont mind, he'll need more than a golf club to beat Charlie Sheen at life. From what i can gather Tiger and Charlie have a lot of common interests, they both like the ladies, Tiger has allegedly had a go with the drugs and enjoys winning. They should join forces, they would be UN-stoppable.

I had a look on google for tiger blood energy drink and someones already done it and made it into a physical product, not endorsed by Charlie Sheen yet though.

It's a lovely day today, I wish i was out in the sun with an ice cold can of Tiger Blood.

The second short story will be uploaded next week. Remember to check my shop if you would like to buy Trail in print form, It's only £2!

Something interesting has happened over the last few days, I seem to be getting loads of hits on the Bruno Mars comic I did a while back, I've had almost 200 unique hits on it in the last week or so which is a bit mental.

This got me thinking, what would Bruno Mars do if he saw it, would he think it was funny, would he hunt me down?...Maybe i should do another drawing about him and challenge him? good idea?
If you don't know what I'm on about you can see the Bruno Mars comic here:

Leon Barr - People with food names - Part 4

It's been a while since I drew any people with food names, it proved to be a pretty popular feature and made me the #oneaday blog of the week a bit back so I thought I'd do a couple more for today's update.

I'm not quite sure who sent these names in anymore but I had them on my list to draw, so thanks for sending them in for me!

 PROFILE

Name - Leon Barr
Occupation - Jazz musician

Leon Barr is an old school Jazz musician, he can play the saxophone like there's no tomorrow. Think Bleeding gums Murphy crossed with sea sick Steve.

Leon's live stage performances can get pretty wild and have been described as dangerously good.

Leon can be hard to approach so be careful not to bite off more than you can chew or he'll have you for dinner.

PROFILE

Name - Sherry Bakewell

Occupation - Dating show host

Sherry Bakewell is a prime time dating show host and likes to think of herself as a modern day Cilla Black.

Her dating show 'Thats what she said!' is very popular although to this day none of the couples have gone on to have lasting relationships.

The theme of the show revolves around cheesy chat up lines involving Cherry's, Buns, icing and cake?

'I'd cup your cake anyday'

If you would like to see some of the other People with food name characters I drew you can see them here:

Part 2
Part 3

As ever, If you have any funny names you think I could draw, please send them in and I'll add them to my list!

A Comic about a Mime

Here is a comic I did to go in a Bristol based newspaper/anthology which will be called 'The Sorry Entertainer'

I think it will be printed in May some time.

I like rhyming, I think I should try and do more comics with rhymes. I didn't do any photoshop work on this other than add the text, the drawings are exactly as they looked when i scanned them in. I quite like the roughness of the lines, I tried to think about how it would look printed in a newspaper and what i could do to add detail to it.

I might be updating this less regular over the coming weeks, I have a few other commitments that I need to work hard on. I also want to start working seriously on my book, I'll still try to update three times a week at least.

It's upsetting today to see what's happening in Japan, something like this really puts things in perspective for me, we're pretty lucky really.

Summer is coming

"Those summer days that I longed for never really were what I wanted them to be"

I seriously can't wait for summer now, I'm so fed up of it being awful outside all the time. The signs are now apparent that summer is getting closer, I'm no longer driving to work in the dark on a morning for starters.

With all this anticipation in mind I plan to make the most of summer this year and don't want to waste it doing things I could be doing in winter anyway.

In summers past I am very guilty of this:

This time around I want park days, Day trips and kick arounds as well as the festivals which come as standard.

That being said, it's horrible outside today and I've been feeling terribly ill as of late, I just cant seem to shake it.

Summer couldn't come too soon.

A Comic about Charlie Sheen

I drew this to upload last week but then i got poorly and couldn't think about anything other than staying in bed. Charlie Sheen is a legend, this was enhanced last week in the television interviews he did.

I took a quote from his interview to draw a comic on, this was difficult because there are so many good quotes.

If you haven't seen the film 'men at work' staring Sheen and his brother Emilio Estevez playing the parts of brotherly dustbin men then you should go watch it right away if only to witness the trash can lid high five.

I have something new I want to work on, A book I've been wanting to do for a long time but i can never find time to do it. I was thinking that maybe if i do it a section at a time to upload here I'll get it done quicker, rather than just doing it straight for print.

"When Cocaine wants to party it takes Charlie Sheen"

A comic about Justin Bieber

I thought I'd do this since I mentioned him in my blog yesterday, it seemed like a good idea!

You may have noticed that this comic looks slightly different to my usual drawings. I've been having a think about the way I do them, the layout and what's important. I'm very critical of my own work and I really wasn't happy with the Barcelona ones I did last week and decided it was time to step up my game. I realised that there was too much going on in last weeks comics, maybe too much detail where it wasn't really needed.

I've also had a go at making some templates and some proper speech bubbles to try and add a bit of consistency. I've also set up some standard colours that I can use each time for the same reason. I'll be experimenting more with these ideas until i get it refined how I like it, your feedback would be helpful.

So last night was a nightmare, I went to a gig and had a really good time. It was getting home that was the problem, my train went past my Huddersfield stop straight to Manchester without explaining why. I then had to get a train back, a train to Brighouse and then a bus to Huddersfield. I set off at 11.30 and got back at 3.30 and then was up for work for 6.30. Not Happy!

Oh yeah, The punch line of the comic if you didn't get it is that Dustbin Bieber sings like a little girl. Lovely guy though I'm sure...

Today is Just teen Bieber's birthday apparently, Happy Biebday Dustbin Barber. That said I might wear my Bieber t-shirt to The Xcerts gig tonight. Serious.
